Strategy and positioning
A strategy that tells your firm what to do, and what to stop.
Many professional firms grow by accumulation: another service, another type of client, another hire. Hexarch helps owners decide where the firm is going, which clients and services to focus on, and how to explain those choices to the team and to the market.
Where firms get stuck
- The firm serves many kinds of client and cannot say which it serves best.
- Partners hold different views of where the firm should be in three to five years.
- Growth has come from opportunity rather than choice, so the service range is wide and uneven.
- A partner’s retirement or a change of ownership is approaching without a plan for the work.
- Larger competitors and new technology are changing the market, and nobody has looked at what it means for the firm.
What we do
How Hexarch helps with strategy
A clear view of the firm today
Look at where the firm’s work and clients come from, which services are strong and which are not, who the real alternatives are, and what the firm’s own records say. The starting point is evidence from the firm, not assumptions.
Choices on focus
Decide which clients and services the firm will build around, which it will keep, and which it will stop offering. Good strategy is mostly about what is left out, and the owners need to agree on it.
A strategy on a page
Put the direction in a short written statement: where the firm is going over three to five years, why clients will choose it, and the handful of priorities that follow. It is short enough for the whole team to read and use.
A plan and a review rhythm
Turn the strategy into a 12-month plan with owners and dates, and agree a quarterly review so the plan is checked against results and adjusted when facts change.
What you get
A short written strategy that records the choices made and the reasons for them, with a 12-month plan behind it. Many engagements start with a Firm Review or a Firm Growth Plan, and the work can continue through the monthly Advisory retainer. Scope and fee are agreed before work begins.
Scope
Hexarch advises on the direction and organisation of the firm. It does not provide accounting, audit, tax or legal advice, and it does not value firms or advise on partnership agreements, mergers or sales, which need your accountant and solicitor. It does not prepare financial forecasts for lenders or investors.
